The project brief required the renovation & upper level addition to a dilapidated weatherboard cottage in the leichhardt council’s heritage conservation area on an awkwardly shaped triangular block. The ground floor has been opened up for a large living room, dining & kitchen with a study alcove & guest bedroom. Upstairs accommodates 2 large bedrooms with walk in robes & a common family bathroom.
The upper level provided an opportunity to capture expansive views over the Anzac bridge & the city skyline. An upper level deck is accessible to both bedrooms.
The upper level addition presented some view sharing issues & the roof form generated from this is a series of gables creating dramatic internal ceiling lines. |
