| Justin Long Design was commissioned by P&O Australian Resorts to design a new $3m resort development from scratch. Built on an isolated part of a 600,000 acre outback property the resort is nestled along the Mitchell River 300km west of Cairns.
The project consists of a central complex & 10 separate guest rooms, staff village & all associated services.
The concept is a modern take on the traditional Australian outback building type. The design solution is prefabricated steel framed structures clad in rustic natural weatherboards with large floating secondary roofs providing shelter from the harsh outback heat.
